Joey Sharp's Top 40 Intake - September Billboard '24

This week the billboard magazine comes out with its list of popular songs and here is Joey Sharp with his response from the hillbilly Ozarks.

Hello folks, It's Joey. This week, the chart has reserved its first two spots for country songs. The first one was a bar song I could not stand to listen to all because who wants to hear a bar song, I sure don't, not really. The 2nd one was "I Had Some Help," by Post Malone and Morgan Wallen.

"Birds of a feather," by Billie Ellish is doing fine at #5. A pretty good song in her usual style.

Chappell Roan is popular and the talk of the music business. "Good Luck Babe," is at #6 and a pretty great song. Hot To Go and Pink Pony Club are top 40 hits as well.

Sabrinia Carpenter has "Espresso," at #7 and "Please, Please, Please," at #9. These are my favorite songs right now and listening to her I hear a bit of a country sound in her voice, a bit like Dolly Partin, I think.

"Million Dollar Baby," is at #8, by Tommy Richman. I like this song, I do. I think it is far out. A very 90's hip-hop type of song and unusual to me.

"Lose Control," and "Too Sweet," are both songs I just don't like. Definitely save those for the boy's club or whatever. It's out of my range.

So many country songs making an appearance on the chart, one can't tell the difference. "Lies Lies Lies," stands out as a good song by that country sound of today, Morgan Wallen. "I Remember Everything," is still on the chart after a long success with Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves.

"Saturn," by Sza is also still in the top 40. A perfect song really.

"Who," by Jimin was in the top 10. This was a Korean pop song that I liked. The song has a clear lyrical message and is clean. I like to hear a clean song. I just do.

This week I took notice of the name Moneybag who is from Memphis and wore a nice green hat. What more can I say on that note.

Thank You for being a part of this week's update. Next month we may do another one. The future of music seems to be wrapped in country. But things can change in a moment. Joey Sharp
